AOB On-Field

Opening Ceremony MCH’s medical team works hard. They lovingly care for patients, day and night. But that’s not all they can do. You ought to see these men on the football (soccer) field!

Every October, MCH’s Club organizes a multi-team tournament. Teams are named after internationally renowned teams: Barcelona, Manchester, Real Madrid, and more. "The names are fitting," says one district leader who attends regularly. “Watching these men thrills me. They play like professionals.” They do all that is necessary for getting that ball into the opposing goal.

Football PlayersProbhir Chakma, MCH Club Vice-President, explains the purpose for these games. “We do serious work, so we need to play, to simply enjoy the sport. We often are limited to working all day with the same people in the same department, but when we play, then doctors, computer technicians, and night guards join together. Many of us also have office jobs, so we need to exercise!”

The players enjoy the competition, rain or shine. The rest of us attend and cheer loudly, rain or shine. Skilled referees from the area are invited to officiate. If the score is level at the end of the game, a draw is declared, but we still reward best player of each match. The tournament ends with multiple rewards presented.

Football (soccer) is the world’s most popular sport. Here on Memorial Christian Hospital’s field, it’s our favorite, too.
