Monsoons in Bangladesh

Approaching StormThere is an atmospheric depression in the Bay of Bengal. Winds whip in from the southwest. Increasing cloud cover has dampened the temperatures. The humidity is 100%. And the rains come, hard and steady, soft and steady, but usually steady, for days on end. Verdant, dense jungles, algae-covered paths and moldy clothes make green the color of this season. Bangladesh’s national flower, the white water-lily, blooms everywhere. We use boats as the main form of transportation nowadays, since in low-lying plains of Bangladesh, water covers the land for 3-4 months.
