Brr! The average temperatures have dropped to 60 F (17 C), which in homes with no indoor heating and among people who own few cold-weather garments feels mighty cold. Cool air is blowing in from the Northwest now. The skies are brilliantly clear, and countless stars sparkle above us at night. Each morning, we try to warm up by standing in the sunlight for a while. We expect no rainfall this season, but the date juice in the tall date-trees is flowing fast. We buy thick syrupy date-molasses in the markets and fry up tasty, sweet pastries, eaten only this time of year.
