We value the cultures, languages, and literature of Bangladesh. Our linguistic teams produce dictionaries, grammars, and books to preserve the heritage of each people group. Our Bangladeshi language teachers guide expatriates in gaining proficiency in language and sensitivity to culture.
Bangladesh’s literacy rate is rapidly increasing and now is at 75%. However, districts in which AOB operates have a slower literacy rate, because most people do not speak Bangla as their mother tongue. AOB offers formal and non-formal education, particularly to children from disadvantaged families.
Heart House Handicrafts enables at-risk, widowed, and physically disabled people to develop handcraft skills and economic stability. Heart House markets their products.
Our agriculture project trains farmers, family members, and students to generate income and improve their families’ nutrition. Our trainers guide participants in effectively producing coffee, fruits, vegetables, fish, and small animals. We distribute seeds, seedlings, and saplings.
Literature Division produces and markets a wide range of quality Bangla literature: from literacy courses, health booklets, and instructions on current social concerns, to books for Christian growth and curriculum for Bible college, camp, and seminars.
We strive to provide short training programs for children, teenagers, and young people who are beneficiaries of our Community and Child Development Program. These beneficiaries are made aware of social issues and how to address them. By participating in various practical activities, they can engage in the service of the country by creating awareness, developing better health awareness, and building better character. This program will help students in developing their potential for leadership, creativity, and community building for the next generation.
